Deleting your data
Last updated
You can ask us to delete your Naatri account and its data at any time, whether you signed up with an email address, with Google, or with Facebook.
How to request deletion
Email [email protected] from the address on your Naatri account, with the subject Delete my account. If you signed in with Google or Facebook and are not sure which address that is, tell us which provider you used and we will find it.
We will confirm the request, delete the account, and write back to tell you it is done — normally within a few days, and always within 30 days.
What gets deleted
- Your account: your name, email address, password hash, profile photo, and profile details.
- The link between your Naatri account and your Google or Facebook account, so neither provider can be used to sign back in.
- Your membership of every family tree, and any pending requests or suggestions you made.
- Any family tree you own, including its people, relationships, and uploaded photos.
What may remain
If you are a member of a tree someone else owns, the people and relationships recorded in that tree belong to that tree and stay with it — including any entry describing you as a relative. That is their record of their family, not part of your account. To be removed from a tree you do not own, ask that tree’s owner or administrator, or write to us and we will pass the request on.
We also keep security and audit records of significant actions for a limited period, and we may retain information we are legally required to keep. These records are not used for any other purpose.
Deleting a single tree instead
If you want to remove one family tree but keep your account, say so in the same email and name the tree. There is no need to delete your whole account.
Revoking access instead of deleting
Removing Naatri from your Facebook or Google account settings stops that provider being used to sign in, but it does not by itself delete your Naatri account or your family tree. Use the email request above for that.
